Data Retention & Expiration
For Customers
Ethnio is committed to GDPR compliance and offers the ability to disable automatic data collection, which stops us collecting any information at all. This is not just EU-specific, and can be applied to prevent processing all personal data (including PII) for participants anywhere in the world.
In order to help manage various workflow needs, Ethnio also provides the option to automatically delete personal data after a specified time period. Data retention can be set from 1–12 months and applies globally to the whole Ethnio account — affecting all team members on the plan. This can be extremely helpful because it provides the flexibility to store data only for the time it will be needed.
The timing of data retention has an important nuance around the most recent date of a screener response or CSV upload. Each new response or CSV upload has it's own clock. For example, if a respondent fills out a screener on Jan 1, 2021, the clock will start ticking for this specific response but if they fill out a new screener six months later, the original response will be wiped but the newer response will stay until the new retention period ends. This way each response resets the retention period.
For Respondents
Respondents are people that answered a screener sent by an account holder. You should contact the account holder who is responsible for editing, deleting, or giving you a copy of your responses. If you’re unable to get in touch with the account holder, please try to track down the following information before contacting us: screener link, email invitation, or web page you used to take the survey. Then provide your name and email address.
