We've made it drastically easier to create and customize screeners, introduced some rad new features, and generally become even more serious about our mission to help you recruit participants for your research.
Did you know ethnio has existed since 2005? That's like 45 years in Internet Time. Thank you so much to our current and past ethnio team, to all our customers and users, to everyone who was at Bolt | Peters over the years, and to Facebook Research for allowing me to continue working on Ethnio as I help manage research there. It's one heck of a side project. We're approaching one million recruits for research, and this release was only possible through the invaluable support of everyone in our growing UX research community, our fantastic developers, community manager Lindsey, feedback from users themselves, talented friends and many past co-workers. It's been a collaboration on multiple fronts and we're extremely grateful for all those who have been involved in the process. SORRY TO GET SO MUSHY. Back to business.
We've listed all the features below, so scroll down it's a bear of a post. We've also redesigned your recruit dashboard to improve the experience of managing recruit information and participant pools. So the major new features are:
All New Question Editing Experience
It's easier than ever to customize your screener and question types. We've also added some 'shortcuts' and suggested questions to speed things up a bit if you're in a time crunch.
The Magic of The Drill Down
When you set a screener question type to 'Magic Drill Down' you can prompt recruits who answer a question according to your chosen filters, to select times they are available to participate in an interview or study. *Note that you need to have 'Magic Scheduling' also chosen as a question type to successfully use 'Magic Drill Down'.
Introducing Ethnio Scoring
The number on the left of the recruit information is based on an algorithm created to narrow down your results of recruits based on your own filterning preferences. You can filter recruits by ethnio score and/or have a notificaiton setup to alert you when you get recruits who reach a particular ethnio score.
This is particularly helpful to those who have multiple screeners, possibly multiple team members also, and want to reassign screeners to different codes without having to remove and replace any code.
Sub-Accounts & Teamwork
Now multiple members of your team and/or clients can see and edit particular screeners based on permissions you set.
Scheduling Has Happened, People
The long awaited (mostly by remote ux enthusiasts like us) scheduling feature is ready to try! Although there are still some things we're making changes to, we're pretty excited for people to put it to good use.

Any Pricing Changes?
For new users, when you create any type of new account the first 30 days are on us. Feel free to try it out, create screeners, gather data, etc. Once you have signed up if you decide you don't need to use your account for a period of time- you can downgrade your account to Free at anytime. Then upgrade at anytime if you would like to use it again.
If you currently have a "Free" plan, you'll get another 90 days to use your account fully until we will ask you to purchase one of the monthly accounts to launch a screener or gather new recruits. But we have lots of time before you have to worry about that.
We have three servers with the fine folks at Rimuhosting in New Zealand and Dallas. The DNS change for our newest server with the third release will start to propogate at 2am EST on June 8th. As anyone who made it this far in this blog post probably knows, there shouldn't be any problems with the rollout, but you never know. We'll be keeping a very close eye on things and you can check our Pingdom third-party monitoring status here: bit.ly/ethniostats or our twitter feed at twitter.com/ethnio. Overall, we hope that our redesign will make the recruiting process more efficient and effective for those who use ethnio. We understand the difficulties that come with having so many remote research tools at your disposal- and keeping track of them all. Using ethnio, we hope you're able to manage not only a recruiting tool, but also participant data, incentive payments, and even to keep a participant pool on hand if needed.
